pressure gauge has been working with BAE Systems to improve a series of A-range actuators to IQ3 actuators which operate penstocks controlling movement of ships between the sea and transitional locks and dry docks at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth).
A collection of A-range actuators had reached the end of their operational life after lengthy service in a challenging setting. BAE Systems wanted to retain all the benefits of electrical actuators, so IQ3 actuators have been chosen. These had to be specially adapted by Rotork to overcome issues around confined areas and tough access.
IQ3 actuators and IS gearboxes had been mechanically tailored so that each actuator and gearbox might be manually operated with out coming into the confined space. Rotork designed special hand auto levers and thru drive mechanisms for the actuator and gearbox to eliminate the need for confined house access.
Actuators inside the IQ range are watertight, providing ingress safety to IP66/68 at 20 m for 10 days. diaphragm seal have a complicated twin stacked show with configurable data logger performance, and an absolute place sensor offers reliability and accuracy.
